Getting Back To You
I want to talk about self-care, something I struggle with daily.
The life of a mother, a wife and an entrepreneur, so many responsibilities in life that we forget to take care of our personal needs.
This is particularly true for mothers, who have many care-giving responsibilities.
We have so many hats to wear; don’t get me wrong, I love my family life and what I do for a living, it’s very rewarding and fulfilling but sometimes the switching of hats can become overwhelming and challenging, I’m sure a lot of you mothers out there can relate.
Someone or something is always pulling you in multiple directions, asking for something or needing of something from you and then before you know it…, the daily stresses of life catch up to you and you feel like you are stuck in quicksand and you are slowly sinking into a deep hole.
Hit The Reset Button
This has happened to all of us, its nothing to be a shamed off and the one thing to always remember is it’s okay to feel what you are feeling at that moment of chaos around you. Soak in those feelings and then acknowledge that it’s time to press the RESET button and have some self-care and put yourself first.
It’s a struggle I have because as a mother. I always want to put everyone’s needs before my own but sometimes you just have to be selfish…yes, I said it! YOU HAVE TO BE SELFISH SOMETIMES and just put your needs first and take some time to yourself to decompress and reset your mind and body, so you can be a better version of yourself for your loved ones and for yourself.
It's OK To Say No
Its okay to say no to events you don’t want to go to and not volunteer at your child’s field trip.
It doesn’t make you a bad parent or a bad friend, it simply means you have the right to say NO to keep your sanity in check….and that’s okay!
It’s okay to have some “you” time, even if its just 15 minutes to yourself in a busy day. Have a bubble bath with a glass of vino or two…hehe, get unplugged from Instagram, Facebook and your phone. Instead, get lost in a good book, one that doesn’t require WIFI. Or do one of my all-time faves, wake up before the kids do and have a cup of coffee in silence to start your day.
Do something…, anything, to allow yourself to reset your mind, body and soul, make yourself a priority and remember its okay to put yourself first.
